The iconic actress was coaxed out of her home by a small group of tourists, who can be seen standing way down below in the golf course her house overlooks, calling out their well-wishes to the birthday girl.
The star was dressed in a pale pink turtleneck top and lilac and white patterned pants, with a long silver necklace adding some interest to the ensemble.
Her hair was styled in her signature bob, while she shielded her eyes with rather cool black shades, her golden complexion nicely made-up beneath, with a slick of rose-coloured lipstick brightening
her pout.

She was quite the sight to behold, standing against the white wooden railing, framed by the pointed roof of her house, which was painted a cheery pale yellow and featured plenty of large windows.

Reflecting on the last nine decades - from her career to her personal life - Doris only has fond memories.
'Would you believe I'm still offered scripts and projects all the time?' Doris opened up to Closer Weekly on the eve of her milestone birthday about often contemplating a return to acting, though she admitted they 'don’t make the kind of movies I made anymore!'

She added jokingly during the interview from her cliffside estate: 'All I ever wanted in my life was to get married, have kids, keep house and cook, and even though I did all these things, I still ended
up in Hollywood.'

'Would you believe I’m still offered scripts and projects all the time?' Doris said. 'Every once in a while I think about working again, but they don’t make the kind of movies I made anymore! It's a different world.'

'My days are busy responding to the huge volume of mail I receive,' she said. 'I'm still floored by all the beautiful, heartwarming letters from people all over the world, telling me that my work somehow touched their lives.'
Having left show business more than 30 years ago, Doris has since become a crusader for the welfare of animals.

Her 90th birthday served to further these goals, as she held a 'doggie fashion show to showcase local rescues that need homes' on Thursday at the Cypress Inn - the pet-friendly hotel she owns in Carmel Valley - the proceeds from which benefitted the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
'I've never been a fan of celebrating my own birthdays,' the That Touch Of Mink star said, adding: 'Helping animals has been a lifelong passion. They give us unconditional love and ask very little in return.'
And at this stage in her life, Doris is exactly where she wants to be.
'Oh, I have my little aches and pains now and then, like everyone,' she said. 'I love to be outside, walking along the beach or working in my garden.
'Those things are all quite enjoyable for me.
I have everything I could ever want right here
in Carmel!'
